Good morning SB Readers. Thanks for checking the blog. It does our hearts good to see people reading it every day. Makes us want to deal out some hugs. Drop by sometime for yours.
In the meantime, we want to do something super cool: Staff Interviews. They'll be kind of like staph infections, but with enjoyable videos of us answering your questions instead of bacteria and irritation.
Aaron is organizing the equipment closet today. Cindy is editing like a machine (I don't know how she focuses for so long). I'm researching this and that.
Sorry. I'm pretty tired and I get snappy when I'm sleepy.
This is an exciting week at little PHOTOGRAPHANTASTICAWESOMENESS (possible new studio name we're toying with).
The senior portraits are starting to flow like milk and/or honey.
We're sprucing up the studio.
I got a new coffee mug.
Everything is just clicking.
And here's another random video:
By the way, you can read and make little comments corresponding with certain points in the video by clicking on the scroll bar as it plays. Pretty neat.
I thought I was going to be taking care of business on my own today; but Haley showed up out of nowhere.
We have a lot going on these days. To-do lists rolled out like red carpets all over the place.
My big thing today is taking pictures of equipment we no longer need and plan to sell. Any photographers reading, check back soon because we want you to have first dibs. It's all in great shape, we just don't need so much of everything.
Back when the studio shot weddings with a bunch of photographers, they had to have multiple sets of everything. This is no longer the case now that LP is streamlined and focused like a laser beam of awesome portraiture.
So that's what we're doing. What are you up to?
Oh, and here's a random video from yesterday:
How do you like my hair cut? I just got if from good 'ol Jim's Barber Shop.
I think I look like some kind of gargoyle cancer patient. Darn you Cindy for being at the beach when I needed a hair cut!
I posted a new poll to get your opinion. It's over to the right of the screen.
IMDB Trivia: - In the beginning of the film, when Aaron is distraught over Pete's mysterious disappearance, Pete can be seen in the background. He's the one in all black facing away from the camera. - The film's editor, Wayne, is the crazed, bearded lunatic that pops up midway through the film. He went to school with Josh Turner. - The soundtrack is from Gladiator. - Garin, the primary videographer, is now in the Coast Guard. The Mt. Roger's hiking trip was his farewell adventure. - Peter C. Hoffman was considered for the role of Garin, but turned it down, preferring the role of Pete. He later regretted the decision. - All of Aaron's lines were completely adlibbed. Much of his monologue had to be replaced by another actor after it was decided that he was making no sense. >>>WARNING: THERE MAY BE SPOILERS<<<
- The final showdown between The Five and the Mountain was originally filmed in Ontario, Canada. - Once the cast reached the top of the mountain, they were so famished that they ate Pete. It would have only been a 30 minute hike down the mountain to a Cracker Barrel.
Our latest discovery was found in the storage building - the part of the storage building that hasn't been disturbed since the early 1920's.
It's a long rusty hook with a wooden handle. I didn't know what it was and when I showed it to Aaron he recognized it right away. "That's for catching and killing chickens." He then proceeded to demonstrate how one can catch chickens with the rusty hook.
He left the killing part out, not wanting to horrify children who might watch the video. He also used a stick, rather than a chicken because we didn't have any chickens or a large chicken costume for me to wear.
Watch and learn:
NOTE:
- To be added to our rocking newsletter, email info@littlephotography.net. Aaron says .COM, rather than .NET.
- We do not condone the catching or killing of chickens with long rusty hooks, unless those chickens are attacking your family or if they look delicious.
After we got Cecil (that's what we named him) under control, we realized that he had been in the studio all day and we had no idea. He was right under our noses.
Rest assured that I haven't forgotten about you. With the Christmas season barreling toward our studio like a big angry bison, I've been distracted.
I spoke with a friend at Albemarle's Downtown Christmas the other night who said she checks the secret blog regularly for entertainment and I felt guilty for letting this thing slide to the back burner.
These are our friends Michelle, Ayden, and Santa Clause. Michelle is the aforementioned secret blog reader, Ayden is her little girl, and Santa is a bearded man in a blood-red suit that scares the crud out of children.
Elias kept his ninja thumb ready in case anything went down.
The moral of this story is that you can expect more frequent secret updates. You can also expect Santa to terrify your kids if they're under two years old.
I decided to use a green marker to write "Does this work?" right in the middle of the white board we painted on our wall a few days ago. Then I drew an Expo marker so I could feel like Bob Ross.
To my horror - it wouldn't erase!! I tried the Expo eraser. I tried the Expo spray stuff. I tried elbow grease.
But the white board isn't a total loss. I tried the blue marker and it worked. I don't know why blue would be any different from the other colors, but I'm glad it is. I'm also glad I got another chance to feel like Bob Ross. I wish I could have found a cadmium yellow marker to try.
Little Photography is all about innovation. In our photography. In our products. Especially in our white boarding.
We do a lot of brainstorming and our lighting bolts of brilliance need a large enough board to contain it all. So when Aaron saw this product, we were all over it.
I painted a 4x7 foot rectangle of it in our office and a roughly 2X3 rectangle of it in our framing room. You have to wait two days for it to cure, so we'll let you know how it goes when we try to write on it for the first time.
