Aaron dug this up at his house. It's a button he got way back while we were in high school. So many hilarious inside jokes sprouted from this seedling.
We were flipping through the latest edition of Wholesale Crapnobodyneeds and spotted someone we recognized.
Take a look:
I had no idea our bud Chris was modeling again. He was doing a lot of modeling work a few years back until he sprained his face working on the new Flobee ad campaign.
Due to contractual red tape with the modelling agency, we had to black out the company info. But it's great to see him back in action. And what a product!
If I ever need a heart surgeon, I sure hope he has a surgical cap this patriotic.
Aaron is organizing the equipment closet today. Cindy is editing like a machine (I don't know how she focuses for so long). I'm researching this and that.
Sorry. I'm pretty tired and I get snappy when I'm sleepy.
This is an exciting week at little PHOTOGRAPHANTASTICAWESOMENESS (possible new studio name we're toying with).
The senior portraits are starting to flow like milk and/or honey.
We're sprucing up the studio.
I got a new coffee mug.
Everything is just clicking.
And here's another random video:
By the way, you can read and make little comments corresponding with certain points in the video by clicking on the scroll bar as it plays. Pretty neat.
I thought I was going to be taking care of business on my own today; but Haley showed up out of nowhere.
We have a lot going on these days. To-do lists rolled out like red carpets all over the place.
My big thing today is taking pictures of equipment we no longer need and plan to sell. Any photographers reading, check back soon because we want you to have first dibs. It's all in great shape, we just don't need so much of everything.
Back when the studio shot weddings with a bunch of photographers, they had to have multiple sets of everything. This is no longer the case now that LP is streamlined and focused like a laser beam of awesome portraiture.
So that's what we're doing. What are you up to?
Oh, and here's a random video from yesterday:
How do you like my hair cut? I just got if from good 'ol Jim's Barber Shop.
I think I look like some kind of gargoyle cancer patient. Darn you Cindy for being at the beach when I needed a hair cut!
I posted a new poll to get your opinion. It's over to the right of the screen.
We're excited to tell you about some new ways you can experience the little PHOTOGRAPHY Secret blog (yes, I just copied and pasted this from the regular blog, but there are some minor modifications...).
1) look to the right of the page and check out what the LP Team is up to: real time!
2) also on the right of the page, subscribe to receive new blog posts right smack in your email inbox.
We've been really busy at the studio lately. I realize the contradiction of saying that, then posting pictures of us all out in the backyard playing with a frisbee; but life is full of contradictions. Plus, these were taken weeks ago, before it started getting up to 178 degrees every day.
This is Haley, our newest addition to the team. I kept promising that we would give her a formal introduction on both blogs; but I don't think that's going to happen (too busy...). So this will have to serve as her official introduction.
What's she doing? Your guess is as good as mine.
Here's Cindy throwing and/or catching the frisbee.
Here I am retrieving the frisbee after I threw it onto the roof. Probably didn't need the dust pan.
Here's Aaron demonstrating what Haley was tyring to do.
This is why we don't allow ourselves to go outside and goof off very often. Things get out of hand.
Okay, the Secret Blog has been getting a little less secretive lately. Thus I have removed the obvious link on the regular blog and will go back to my old ways - sprinkling it throughout our Internet presence in slick, secretive ways. This way, only the most devoted LP fans will find their way here.
If you're reading this, you're in the know. Keep it on the DL.
What's going on around here:
It's been crazy lately. Wildflower portraits are going great. Coming off prom and heading into this event, Cindy has been editing like a machine. Sometimes there are actually sparks flying from her computer.
We have a new addition to the team that I'll introduce more thoroughly later. Her name is Haley, she's from Florida, and she eats dry cereal all the time.
Cindy brought in Heath Bar Cake and I'm eating some as I type. It's really good. I'd offer you some, but I don't want to.
And Aaron has been hideously disfigured by poison ivy.
I really want to post something, but I don't have any pictures ready yet. So I'll just tell you about our day here at the studio.
We created a new space in the studio. I'm not at liberty to divulge what this space will be used for just yet; but I can tell you that it involves a rusty cabinet laid on its side, a flat screen TV, a great deal of joint compound and an old barber chair.
Cindy yelled at me for saying it was hot in the studio, but refusing to wear short sleeves.
We stuck it to the man and watched an episode of The Office during lunch.
This weekend is Greystone Academy's prom, so we had some dudes come through to grab their tuxes. One of the aforementioned dudes (Chandler Potts) came with his brother. They looked so much alike that I couldn't tell them apart. I'm still not sure who was the real Chandler. Maybe neither of them. Who knows? Somebody walked out of here with Chandler's tux.
I'll leave you with an inspiring quote from earlier today: "You are a crust-clod in the joint compound of my life."
Whip that one out the next time your spouse irritates you.
We're getting ready to construct a new backdrop for the studio tomorrow and Aaron was talking about what all we need to get together before we can work on it. One of the items is a reciprocating saw which he referred to as a "demolition blade".
Of course, we immediately thought of Wesley Snipes, ninja kicking star of the Blade movies.
We inadvertently stumbled upon a DOUBLE Wesley Snipes movie reference.
The only way it could have been better is if he said, "We need to grab a major league demolition blade or I'm going to reach my boiling point while I'm waiting to exhale," which isn't all that unrealistic with Aaron.
What's your favorite Wesley Snipes movie reference or quote? Let us know in the 'comments' section below this post.
We would like a take a moment to say thanks to a very special young lady.
Taylor Bowers, a descendant of pirate William Parker, grew up in East Asia where she made a living harvesting rice.
One thing led to another, and she found herself on our doorstep at Little Photography a few months ago. With nothing but a mouthful of rice and the determination of a coyote or possibly a fox, she clawed her way to the top of the corporate latter.
Without Taylor Bowers, Little Photography would be more like Piddly Photography. Or Don'tknowdiddly Photography. With Taylor. We do know diddly. We know diddly all the time.
In fact, without Taylor Bowers, I wouldn't even be writing this secret blog entry right now. I wouldn't have fingers at all. And there's a good chance that neither would you.
So without further ado, enjoy this special tribute to Taylor Bowers, the pirate-blooded, East Asian, finger-saving photography intern of the century.
Thanks for all the help Taylor.
If you have a story about how Taylor has impacted your life, please let us hear it in the comments section.
This site was made for me. As anyone who has ever worked with me or even met me will tell you, I can't remember jack. Now all I have to do is shoot a quick email to Sandy, and she does the remembering for me.
The screen shot above is of my first try at it. I emailed her to remind me to be awesome in one minute. She did. And I remembered to be awesome.
The system works.
Second: Pictionary
This is a tough one, drawn by Aaron. It's a place.
The first person to guess it correctly (who hasn't won before) will not just receive their picture in the secret blog - they'll receive a hand-crafted image done by yours truly. It might look similar to this.
We've been working our bunt cakes off cleaning out the attic and other various storage nooks/crannies over the last few weeks.
As you may have heard, this is our 25th year in business and you can accumulate a lot of stuff over that many years. So far we've hauled off nearly a ton (literally) of stuff.
We're streamlining and organizing and it feels so good.
On another note, check out our announcement about Wildflower Portraits on the official blog. It's going to be awesome.
What you won't read there, however, is that the studio used to bring in live lambs and bunnies for spring portraits, which seems like a great idea.
We decided against it this year because of allergy and sanitation concerns. Plus some kids find them horrifying and the lambs sometimes eat the smaller children.
Taylor Bowers has been our adopted high school senior for the last couple months. She chose to do her senior project with us, learning from the master of photography: Aaron Byrum.
She needed pictures of her working on her project for the presentation. Unfortunately she didn't fill us in on this until the very last day before the due date, after her project was already completed.
So we staged a bunch of pictures as if she and Aaron were working on the project together.
They capture Aaron's leadership style and what it's like to work at Little Photography pretty accurately.
