2007 was a good year for Little Photography. A lot has gone down, so I put together a little timeline (get it...little timeline). Let's reminisce together...

January: Not much.

February: Aaron Byrum arrives as new owner and brings new style with him.

March: Lambs and Bunnies take over studio, Orwell-style.

April: Addition of Matthew Broadway: specialist in marketing, operations, client relations, custodial services, and snake wrangling.

May: Blog launch.

June: Aaron gets attacked in a parking lot.

July: 1st annual Watermelon Day, participant eats giant hamburger, and the Little Photography Facebook Group opens for business.

August: Online shopping cart becomes operational. The secret begins to leak and Chuck Norris consults with staff regarding the time clock.

September: Studio discovers video and Cindy slings slang.

October: 1st annual Fall on the Farm and Safe Trick-or-Treat Night craziness.

November: Record-breaking snow accumulation in the studio and introduction of original Christmas card designs.

December: Taylor Bowers discovers what having a mentor is all about and Cindy adds fashion guru to her job description.

Have you ever wondered if there was more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking?

There may be, but an old glamour shot Cindy dug out of her desk drawer inspired us to begin a new Secret Blog segment called Fashion Friday which will explore what it means to be ridiculously good looking.

So every Friday, swing by the blog for some fashion tips. I think it fits with what we do here because people want to look their best when they come in for portraits. These suggestions should help.

So without further ado, here is your fashion tip for Friday, December 21 - just in time to spruce yourselves up for all those Christmas get-togethers.

Here Cindy models the perfect blend of hair, jewelry, and pleather - a perfect storm of glamour.

Here's how it's done: hairspray. Approximately 5 gallons for this particular project.

Aaron and I tried our hands at it and I think the result speaks for itself.

Taylor Bowers has been our adopted high school senior for the last couple months. She chose to do her senior project with us, learning from the master of photography: Aaron Byrum.

She needed pictures of her working on her project for the presentation. Unfortunately she didn't fill us in on this until the very last day before the due date, after her project was already completed.

So we staged a bunch of pictures as if she and Aaron were working on the project together.

They capture Aaron's leadership style and what it's like to work at Little Photography pretty accurately.

Check it out: some new websites for your entertainment.

Caveman's Crib: http://www.cavemanscrib.com/

Spend some time snooping around in their apartment. Change the channels on their TV, look through their bathroom drawers. Listen in on their phone conversations.

It's totally interactive and there are a lot of hidden treasures around, so take your time.

Elf Yourself: http://www.elfyourself.com/

This site is really old news, but some of you may not have heard of it.

Make an elf of yourself and others. It's what Christmas is all about.

Demotivation: http://www.despair.com/

It's not as bad as it sounds, but the humor is a little dark.

Check it out if you're feeling overly motivated and need a little bring-me-down.

Yesterday, Jamie, our part-timer, was going through some of the cabinets in our office and rearranging to make space for our packaging materials.

In the process she came up with this:

Was is a prop from iRobot? No, it was a passport camera.

So Aaron of course wanted to try it out. He grabbed a sailor's hat from the back and put on his best tired immigrant look.

Then we got Taylor, our high school intern, in on the action.

Notice how Aaron and Taylor wore their striped shirts for the occassion.

I think Jamie's passport picture gets the "Most Like a Mug Shot" award.

Later, Aaron forgot he had his sailor hat on and wore it to our accountant's office. He said he made it almost through the whole meeting before he realized he was still wearing it. The accountants hadn't said a word about it the whole time.

This was truly terrifying.

After we got Cecil (that's what we named him) under control, we realized that he had been in the studio all day and we had no idea. He was right under our noses.

Scary.

I made a discovery in our attic earlier today while I was looking for our Christmas decor. It was amidst our piles of props from the good 'ol days. The days when parents wanted pictures of their kids sitting with stuffed food products.

Over-sized stuffed french fries.

These probably went with the giant hamburger we gave away at Watermelon Day 2007.

Our Over-sized Stuffed French Fry model is Ursula Saelzler (you heard me), Taylor Bowers' friend.

If you would like a portrait with our Over-sized Stuffed French Fries, just give us a call at 704.888.2881 or email info@littlephotography.net to set up an appointment.

These sessions are totally free and only take a few minutes. You'll cherish your OSFF portraits for life.

If you're reading this, you're probably bored. Here are a couple of other sites to check out while you’re killing time:

npr.org/music

Think NPR is a snooze-fest? Maybe. But their music website is pretty blame cool.

Go there and look 25 years back at Michael Jackson's Thriller. Many of you remember when this came out.

You can also listen to live shows and new songs from artists that may be new to you. You might just discover that you like jazz after all. Who knows?

blogs.usatoday.com/popcandy/

If you enjoy being neck-deep in pop culture, this is the blog for you.
Read about Battlestar Galactica, see movie trailers before anyone else, and learn tv show trivia you never knew you cared about.

dailylit.com

No time to read a book anymore? I bet you check your email like a mad man and/or woman.

Well Dailylit.com is the answer. Many of the books are free, most are inexpensive. You order the book and the site will email it to you in readable installments every day so you can read it as you check your email.

Brilliant!

So spend the rest of your day listening to an obscure indie band you've never heard of and reading about the first 6 minutes of The Dark Knight. When your done, read a chapter of Grapes of Wrath from your inbox.
Today we're enjoying some delicious cookies prepared by my wonderful wife, Meredith.

This is one of the rare times when I shared food with Aaron and Cindy, though Cindy brings food for me all the time. In fact there's a piece of cake whispering sweet nothings to me from the fridge right now.

I tried once with some awesome cupcakes Meredith had made. I brought them in and offered them to Aaron and Cindy, but ate them before they ever had a chance.

Hi

Hi, secret blog readers.

Rest assured that I haven't forgotten about you. With the Christmas season barreling toward our studio like a big angry bison, I've been distracted.

I spoke with a friend at Albemarle's Downtown Christmas the other night who said she checks the secret blog regularly for entertainment and I felt guilty for letting this thing slide to the back burner.

These are our friends Michelle, Ayden, and Santa Clause. Michelle is the aforementioned secret blog reader, Ayden is her little girl, and Santa is a bearded man in a blood-red suit that scares the crud out of children.

Elias kept his ninja thumb ready in case anything went down.

The moral of this story is that you can expect more frequent secret updates. You can also expect Santa to terrify your kids if they're under two years old.

You may have seen my son, Elias, modeling for our Christmas portraits on the ‘events’ page of our website. Well, guess what: he wasn’t the first choice for the Little Photography Christmas Model position.

That’s right. He came sauntering in and stole the job from me. We had already taken these top-notch shots of me in the snow before he came along with his youthful cuteness.

If you feel, as I do, that the images of me in the snow are more poignant and touching than his, leave a comment of support.

Thank you.
